Fleas and worms can be a real nuisance for your pet, they are not just an inconvenience but can present them with a real health problem. If left untreated, some of these parasites can make your pet seriously ill and in some cases prove fatal. Regular preventative treatments will protect your pets throughout the year.

There are many different types of treatment available and we appreciate that it can be confusing choosing the right one. We offer free flea and worm checks for your pet by one of our nurses. This will include us weighing your pet so that we can ensure that we give the correct dosage.

There have been recent cases in the north west of young dogs dying as a result of a life-threatening lungworm “Angiostrongylus vasorum”. This can be transmitted through slugs and snails and puppies are particularly at risk. We stock a POM spot-on product which is simple and easy to apply, and will protect against this killer. The same product is also effective against roundworms, FLEAS, ear mites, and sarcoptic mange mites! Please ask one of our staff for further details.

This product is not available “over the counter” at non veterinary outlets, so please do not mistake it for other spot on products. The only currently available products which are licensed as effective against the lungworm Angiostrongylus vasorum are POMs (Prescription only Medicines) and are only available via a veterinary surgeon.
